ABOUT THE PROJECT
It is situated in a 1938 streamline art deco building with the postmasters apartment.
The client wanted a luxurious moody night-time feel for guests to use when the clients were entertaining but a functional and classic bathroom during the day.
A dramatic palette was chosen, black doors and a marble top to replica the Art Deco period, with an imported tile from Italy which replicated travertine without all the demands of the material.
Chrome fitting for their durability, oak drawers and white sanitary wear completed the classic look. The piece al a résistance was two teardrop chandeliers to add glamour and moodiness to the room.
Lighting was an essential element to create the end product.
A personal private space for the owners to enjoy. Using the same colour palette as the main bathroom, however, this space is more dynamic.
The over height black doors were chosen to create a sense of space, while the travertine tiles and oak wood drawers created a calm earthy vibe.
The dramatic black wall in the shower space was a happy mistake as the owners were one tile short and had to quickly source some tiles for the back wall of the large shower.
Lighting again played an important part with wash lighting over the smoky glass mirror and underneath lighting to see by night.
